Last week our third team ascended to Legendary Regular status having attended 52 Yarnberg trivia nights at the Sporting Globe Knox as we approach our two year anniversary in March.
Welcome to the club The Diamonds, they join Always Late and The Quizlamics in illustrious company as pioneers of our weekly extravaganza, and cherished supporters of all things Yarnberg.
The Diamonds are a wonderful team of friends who know each other through volleyball, family and work; and they bat deep, averaging around 8 – 12 players each week always bringing the vibe!
Experience number 1.
My approach has always been to create an environment where people feel like legends and will keep coming back with guest experience as the number one priority.
Kevin Munro, Bella Fyffe at Grape Vine Events, myself and others have put in a power of work across the board with Signature Group (owners of The Sporting Globe and TGI Fridays) for many years now with general knowledge trivia, themed trivia and recently Beats Bingo to ensure our events are highly entertaining to earn customer retention and secure financial success.
This includes writing tailored Q&A, bringing variety each and every week with a new Roaming Round topic and constantly looking to innovate with exciting interactive games.
From the bottom-line perspective.
Repeat customers are worth their weight in gold. Inspiring and rewarding loyalty compounds over the long run, plus it’s sustainable.
Let’s say The Diamonds average 8 players each week, and each of them spend $25 on food and drinks as a conservative estimate. That’s $200 per week and over $10k across the 52 weeks of reliable revenue to The Sporting Globe Knox on their team alone.
The challenges to capture people during the week
There are, and have been, many headwinds to securing attendance at weekly trivia over the past couple of years.
- Cost-of-living – People are feeling the crunch, and generally speaking, the first thing to be cut from the budget is “non-essentials” like entertainment.
- Competition – one of Australia’s largest trivia companies operates next door the night before us. Not to mention for $17 we have access to a whole raft of incredible shows and films at home to keep us entertained.
- Commitment of time – between kids, work and a bit of ‘me time’ there isn’t much left for a lot of people to get to the pub every week
So it’s a very special feeling to have so many legends deem this is worth their valuable time.

Generosity leads to great things
I’ve always felt the horse pulls the cart when it comes to generosity. Do great things for people without demanding a return and the right ones will materialise and do the same in their own wonderful way.
Our Legendary Regulars teams each receive a $300 Yarnberg voucher toward their next event and each member receives an official Yarnberg Entertainment cap for $26 each. There is no tangible financial return on this for me, but it’s a big part of the reason people keep coming back and we have an everlasting connection both personally and professionally to the brand because of this.
Forever grateful
It genuinely makes me quite emotional to think of how far we’ve come on this journey together and it’s hard to put into words just how much their support means to me.
The path I’m on to be one of Australia’s best entertainers would not be possible without them. There is something very special about the people that back you in at the early stages when you don’t have the big IG following, or the fancy credentials.
I don’t know exactly where this journey will take me, but I do know there will always be a special place at the top of the mountain for these legends.
